We have wooden train system at home.
The reason I bought this set was that 1. My husband accidentally bought the Take Along Lights and Sounds Percy and 2. I thought it would be good for when we go on a trip in two weeks, being called “Take Along” and all.
This morning my son was sleeping in so I opened the box and took everything out.
It does not all fit in the carry building!
There is no way the water tower will fit in the building. In fact all that fit in the building is the train and 4 curve track, none of the other track fit!
So much for portability, at least my son will have two engines and a building with a circular track to play with.
I am sticking to the wooden track from here on out.

The toy itself is a good design for my 3 years old son who has collections of all Take Along Thomas sets. I ordered this one becasue of the water tower which my son doesn’t have it in his collection. However, when the toy was delivered, the liquid inside of water tower was dried-out, so there was no action to see the water level’s goes up and down as the description on the box. I had to exchange it with a new one through Amazon.com ( the exchange process was very easy, simple and fast.). However, the new replaced one, also, didn’t have liquid in the water tower. It seemed that the liquid was evaporated during storage. In that case, there should be a way to fill up. But the water tower can not be opened (I tried but I couldn’t.). So I had to return again. My son was very disappinted.

My son had to have this for Christmas just for the water pump. He likes the new shape of the “x” track that allows for the figure eight layout.

just what we wanted – small, convenient to take along, trains are heavy though, heavier than the wooden rail trains, and hurt little toes when dropped – can be hard to fit all the pieces in the housing though, which sort of defeats the purpose of “take along” – overall though my 2.5yo son loves this.
