My grand-daughter (age 2) played played with it for hours. Well, part of it — down the hill (from Skull Mountain) and through the tunnel. Again and again and again and….
Not that it bothered her at all, but one caveat – there is a short section of elevated track supported on piers (leftmost section in stock photo) that tends to “collapse” (supported section slides away from piers) easily. Some youngsters may find that frustrating and some parents, when the youngsters need help setting the track again and again and again, may find “frustrating” too mild a term…. We didn’t have that problem since the 2-year old wasn’t interested in that section, but others may want to try something like rubber cement (sticky enough hold track on piers but non-permanent, so set can be taken down) or even a loop of masking tape.
As a model railroader who didn’t succeed in luring any of my children into the hobby, I rate the set a huge success as a start in luring my granddaughter, at least.

We were looking for a Brio set for our two-year-old grandson for Yule, because that’s what his mother had when she was a toddler. Alas, Brio is having financial difficulties and hasn’t shipped new stock to the US for some time (I was so informed by a local, independent toy store owner), and our grandson loves Thomas, so we went with this set. He just loves it! It’s a great size for his little hands, and is similar to Brio. I believe that Brio licenses this line, so I’m not sure what their financial problems are based on. I’m not happy that these trains are made in China because of the problems with lead paint on children’s toys. However, I understand that this issue has been addressed, and lead is no longer found in the paint. That said, I would prefer to spend my money with a country in which consumer protection is more tightly regulated.
The trains are great and our daughter tells us that this is our grandson’s favorite toy; I would still prefer to have been able to buy Brio trains made in Sweden.

Our almost 2 year old loves this train set and didn’t care about any other toys on Christmas. Its a big set so you need room or a train table. Overall he has a blast pushing the train through the tunnels.
