Can you have too much wooden track? I think so -- having a limited amount of track forces the designer to plan carefully and really think about the efficient use of resources. But if you have any vertical elements (risers, bridges, etc.) you may need more track to account for all the ramps and ascending/descending elements.

I like this expansion pack because of the switches. The T-switch makes it much easier to set up reverse-direction opportunities, and any switch is handy for creating sidings and places to tie in set pieces like the water tower, the engine shed, etc., as well as new opportunities for routing.

My child (3 1/2 years) has started using the switches quite a bit since we got this expansion pack, and will usually employ them to tie in other sidings and elements. As his ability to design layouts grows, the expansion packs provide material with which to work.

The pieces are very sturdy and fit together well, too!

what else can I say? I bought this expansion set for my little train crazy preschool boy & our fun doubled. A very good addition to your basic figure 8 set.
BUT, you can find less expensive track from Brio that is compatible with Learning Curve's. There are a couple of other's out there if you're looking to save money...just check ebay for instance.
That, said, I do like the look of Learning Curve's track & the road markings on the straight pieces. The roadway expansion set will also compliment your figure 8 nicely as well.

I purchased this along with the Thomas & Friends Crane & Quarry Set for my 2 year old son and it was definitely a hit!! We spend hours playing with the set and setting up new configurations. I would definitely recommend this item when combined with another set.

Thomas/Learning Curve is no longer offering a lifetime warranty. If you have products that came with packaging that says Lifetime Warranty, they'll still honor it if you can produce that packaging info, but otherwise it is now a much shorter warranty (90 days against manufacturing defects). They are still selling stuff that sells Lifetime Warranty but all of the new stuff rolling out will no longer have that on the packaging.

I am very disappointed about the change and will not be buying Thomas products any more. I think even the less well-known companies offer lifetime warranties on manufacturing defects.
