Meet Hiro, one of the newest stars of the DVD release, “Hero of the Rails.” Hiro is a Japanese engine that was brought to Sodor many years ago. At one time, he was a strong, fast engine. However, over time Hiro fell into disrepair before Thomas found him again…and he was determined to have Hiro repaired and running again.

I don’t know why this train was more expensive than others in the Thomas line, but unlike other Hiro trains I’ve seen, this one has a smiling face, and is the one my son has wanted. It came quickly in the mail, and he loves it!

I don’t know what is so special about Hiro, but he is my son’s absolute favorite. As with all the trains in the Thomas line, this is a high-quality, mostly wooden train that is well-weighted for smooth rolling down the track.
