When my two year old child put them in his mouth, he broke out in hives all over his body. I strongly encourage you NOT to buy this toy. I will say that the smell fades eventually and my son loves playing with them in the tub. He's old enough (almost 3) to not put them in his mouth, otherwise I probably wouldn't let him play with them. Like all bath squirters, you have to try and get all the water out of them after the bath so mold doesn't grow.
